Hi all,

I’m working on a project streaming music out from my dbox2. This decoded stream is mp2.

At this time the mp2 will be recorded, I try to simply play this file. But I have (unsolvable?) problems:

1.) The Stream won’t be played as a stream… fmod uses the size of the file from time of playing, plays that part and stops. But the file size already grows infact that there is the recording in progress…
Another simple ActiveX-MP3-Player is working correctly. No clue why ?!

2.) After opening a mp2-file, this file is already marked as “open” – cant delete it. Stopping my VB6-Code dont have any effect. I have to close the whole VB to get write access to that file again?!

Short brief to the code:

Open Stream:

result = FSOUND_Init(44100, 32, 0)
streamHandle = FSOUND_Stream_Open(datei$, FSOUND_STREAMABLE, 0, 0)
streamChannel = FSOUND_Stream_Play(FSOUND_FREE, streamHandle)

Close Stream:

    FSOUND_Stream_Stop streamHandle
    FSOUND_Stream_Close streamHandle
    FSOUND_Close

Would be great is someone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
PS: Already tried different types for Stream_Open… same effect :(

Thanks for your reply :)

I tried different values for the file size, but already same effect: sound is stopping :(

As you can see above I already call the stop and close-precedures. Also I close all of them unloading my program. But file already read-only…

Any ideas? Maybe someone have seen the same thing?

Could there be a way to tell fmod, that the file on disc is a realtime stream out from the net? This could maybe solve it ?

I have had similar problems with the file being “locked”

try NOT calling FSOUND_Stream_Stop streamHandle
Just call FSOUND_Stream_Close streamHandle

EDIT

I forgot, I never did get it to work in VB ๐Ÿ˜•
In C it works just fine.

Thanks nci!

I tried your tip but the played file is already locked.

I’m running out of ideas so I will stop testing with fmod :(

Thanks to all, who tried to help me!
