Hi,

I’ve ha problem with opening MP3 files with the following commands:

sFileName = “\myserver\mymp3.mp”
FSOUND_Stream_Open(sFileName, FSOUND_NORMAL + FSOUND_MPEGACCURATE, 0, 0)

The function takes 5 to 15 seconds to complete. If i open a .wav file this works much better (0.1 – 0.3 seconds).

Is there any way to open the file faster?

Please help me out, this is a major problem becouse im working on a radio automation program.

Kindly regards
Johan Nordström

Does the same problem occur when opening the same file on your local drive?

I think, depending on the size of the file you’re trying to open, this is likely to be due to FSOUND_MPEGACCURATE – the accurate determination of the length of the file is quite a slow process.

Perhaps you could open the file using MPEGACCURATE before it is needed and store the length, etc somewhere?

Thanks for your reply,

no it’s just when i open it thru the network. Local file works fine.

The file is just 5 mb big and the network is 100mbits so it should not take 15 seconds (it takes for about 1 second to copy the file over the network manual).

But i tried to open it with MPEGACCURATE and store the length in a database, it works fine.

But, how exakt is the FSOUND_Stream_SetTime when not using MPEGACCURATE?

if the file is vbr then not very but if it is cbr then mpeg_accurate make little difference
