I’ve searched the forums for these without any luck.

First, we have no desire to deal with the MP3 licensing issues and would like to disable MP3 playback. I’ve been unable to find any functions to detect a sample’s format or disable MP3 playback. We can prevent loading files with an MP3 extension, but FMOD will still play MP3’s if we change the file extension to one that the program allows.

Second, the help files states that FSOUND_sample_ GetLength returns the length of the sample in “SAMPLES”, but I haven’t the faintest idea what that means. How can I convert SAMPLES to a usable time measure?

Thank you,
Darke

Thank you for your prompt reply.

The product I’m working on is a game development suite. The core of the system is and always will be 100% free, but the eventual goal is offer additional services based around the system to make a profit. The development team all agree that disabling MP3 playback is the simplest way to avoid any possible legal entanglements.

How would I do that? I could not find it in the FMOD documentation or these forums.
