I’m working on a program (in VB6) wherein I need to syncronize an animation to the sound being played. I figure I need to generate a callback every tenth of a second or so to keep things properly synced. To do this, I’m planning on using the FSOUND_Stream_AddSyncPoint to create sync points at appropriate intervals. The trouble I’m having is in trying to determine the sample rate of the audio being played so I can compute the offset. Is there a good way to determine the sample rate of an audio stream without needing to read the audio file’s tag? (I don’t know what audio file format my user will be trying to open, so reading in the tag could be messy, though I will if I have to.)
Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere. I searched but couldn’t find anything helpful.
