here is how is how i play a mp3 file in steam

ok! when i hit the play button i want to play the song,
but when i hit it, it does nothing

it like:
case IDC_PLAY:
{
int songId=(int)SendMessage(songListHwnd,LB_GETCURSEL,0,0);
song[songId].channel = FSOUND_Stream_Play(FSOUND_FREE, song[songId].stream);

                    break;
                }

but it is not playing

plz tell me why? by the way what do u mean by “allowing the song to play”?

thanks

Are you sure it isn’t playing, or is there no sound coming out of your speakers?

You might want to poll FSOUND_Stream_GetTime a few times after you hit the play button, if the returned value is changing then the stream is playing and you might want to check if your volume is ok, using FSOUND_GetVolume.

These links might help:

Good luck

are you setting the value of .stream like this?
song[songId].stream=FSOUND_Stream_Open(name, FSOUND_NORMAL | FSOUND_2D | FSOUND_MPEGACCURATE | FSOUND_NONBLOCKING, 0, 0);

nothing i was just making sure you were actually assigning the stream handle to your data structure (it wasn’t in the code above)
