I was trying to use setSpeakerMode(FMOD_SPEAKER_7POINT1) on different machines but only on one of them it didn’t raise an exception in FMODEx.dll. According to the different Speaker example in FMODEx0.11 this shouldn’t be the case. How can I test if the soundcart supports 7.1 sound output?

I’m talking about Delphi, but I checked the headers already, should be no problem. By the way, do you know anything about the settime function that works kind of wrong (dependent on channel frequency)?

Hi Brett,

thanx for your reply!
I tested your executeable but it crashes also (the other executeables do work!). I could give you my executeable, but it’s quite huge… Should I mail it to you? This is so strange – as it works on my notebook, but not on my PC (which also has a 5.1 Soundcard)….

I’ve just tested it with a USB Sound Card (also 5.1) and it works (on one channel at least). So it’s a problem with the sound card (standard stuff, onboard). Do I need something else like special drivers or DirectSound bs?

DirectX9c is installed – I already though of this problem…. but nothing changed… really strange!

Oh, I just want to mention that the exception occurs as early as you start playing a song, but with speakers set to stereo it works.

I didn’t say that this solved my problem – I don’t want stereo sound! Any ideas?

Isn’t there anyone who can help me????
I figured out that with SpeakerMode set to 5POINT1 (instead of 7POINT1) the program doesn’t crash… But rear speakers don’t work so again I’ve only stereo :-(

OK, I will do so. But please have a look at the settime stuff (I mentioned it above), there must something wrong with it, too.

Thanx
