I need some suggestions for a project that I must complete SOON for my January independent study project. I’m making a visualization program (using fmod for the audio & opengl for graphics). I want to focus more on the graphics aspect of the project, so all I really need is to load the music file and transfer its data to my objects to change them.

So, whats the simplest way to just load a file and get the information from the bass, mid-range, and treble into respective arrays(if that’s the best way to do it)? I really don’t even need a UI for loading/ playing/stopping/etc… the data is all I need.

Have a look at the code for the fmod demo player, which is included in the samples of fmod, it has a function in main.c called PlotSpectrum should help you a bit

I checked out both. Is it possible for me to just use the fmod player itself and just send the spectrum arrays directly from the fmod code to my code (ex. could I just send the array from the PlotSpectrum function using the FSOUND_DSP_GetSpectrum() located there? Is there anything I would have to worry about when doing this? I’m sorry if these questions seem really simple, I feel like I’m wasting your guys’ time :) Thanks again.
