my friend has a load of shareware games & a couple of demos installed on his system. he has a problem with no audio on 2 of them – the only 2 using the fmod.dll to play the audio tracks.

The sound plays fine on my machine so we were wondering what other factors could be the cause on his?

sound in every other app on his machine seems fine i.e. ogg/mp3 playing in winamp/windows media player works and he has the latest codecs installed as far as we know.

is there any kind of diagnostic test we could do to trace the problem or determine why the fmod won’t work?? we aren’t programmers really so we would need some kind of diagnostic app :)

thanks,
simon

I seem to be having the same problem. I’m developing a shareware game and sometimes, the sound craps out and stops playing. I’m not sure what causes this problem at them moment. I did some testing and found out that other games using fmod.dll are having the same problem. Rest of the applications on my system have no problems with audio.

In the code, the function FSOUND_PlaySound() returns 4097 as the channels id.

Any ideas?
