Hi, exactly what are the advantages of FMOD over other audio engines? I coded my software app in C++ on Windows — what gives FMOD the advantage over, say DirectX?

Just looking for some reasons to add to my project report ๐Ÿ˜‰

fmod provides an interface to directx which is much simpler, it also includes decoders for many file types. its cross platform. it manages samples for you and more

hi,

just to educate me a little further, do audio engines like RTAudio or DirectX use ASIO as well?

Just a small explain without indepth:

DirectX = M$ attempt for fast responsive drivers after they found out their normal drivers are to slow.

ASIO = Steinberg attempt faster responsive drivers then DirectX which succeeded

RTAudio = API that communicates with Windows or ASIO drivers

FMOD = Very enhanced API
