Don’t get me wrong.
Well I once read in a publication that A3D is the only technique that would support this, thats why I’m asking like a moron 😉

Fmod ex has support for occlusion geometry. I have it working just fine via some custom plugins for 3ds max to add sound objects and my own exporter.

I had some fun adding Fmod to Max, I have sound materials so the user can adjust the levels of occlusion etc, and the less occlusion the material offers the less transparent the mesh appears etc, and ambient and general emitter helper objects, with all the params you can imagine. Plus it plays in realtime as you move around the scene so its nice and easy to see how things sound.

Little pic to show a simple scene (ignore the digger, the artist hasnt done be a suitable emitter shape yet), there are 2 emitter objects one has a cone of sound. The panels all have different levels of occlusion and reverb materials added and can animate etc, still lots to add but sure makes life easier for our project.

That is pretty sweet, and is exactly what I was asking about / looking for! Are these proprietary tools or are you at all interested in making the plugins/exporter available for community use or feature extension? I think these tools could be great assets to the FMOD community…

I was planning to get started on work on something similar to that over the summer in the University lab, but seeing as this is exactly what I was looking at creating, of course I’d much rather build upon your work if possible.
