Hello,

I’ve been starting to use the Sound Designer tool and have some questions/feature requests and bugs to report!

Question #1 – I’m working on a machine gun at the moment, and I’ve made 4 versions of this gun looping. Within the ‘Sound Definition’ tab I have made a definition called ‘Machine Gun’, within the definition I have imported my 4 loops. The ‘Behavior’ of the definition is set to Random. In the event editor, I’ve created an event and placed the ‘machine gun’ sound definition within it. I extended the sound definition to fill the entire width of the event row. The velocity is set to 1 via the paramters.

When I play the event, it picks one of the four loops and plays it, over and over again. If I stop and start the event, it will generally pick a different version and loop it over and over again. To the question (finally), how do I make it so that when the event is played, loops will be called randomly after one another, instead of repeating the same loop over and over again? Also, is it possible to make sure that a loop is never called twice in a row?

So right now it goes,
A, A, A, A, A

when I want it to go,
A, B, C, D, B, C, A, B, D, etc.

2 – I’ve been playing with the Engine example, and have figured that the system there could be adapted to a lot more things than an engine. Question is, how do I create those nifty sliders and apply them to my own parameters?

Feature requests:
Multiple selects

Bugs:
When deleting Sound Definitions, tool crashes.
SD Tool does not recognize its own saves. Opening a saved file results in the examples.fdp file being opened.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Dave

While I’m thinking about it, back to question #1, and two cool features that could be added on to this:

So what else would be cool is: the ability to set a crossfade between those loops (probably between 0-1 seconds) and the ability to set a MaxVariation level.

MaxVariation would define the largest step that any variation (such as volume, pitch, etc) could take each time a new loop is played. That way we won’t end up getting huge jumps in a variable, but small steps within a defined min & max value.

Thanks!
Dave
