Im new here, some fine folks at gamedev recommended fmod to use for sound. So I am just starting out using it for a somewhat simple game. The help file is great, and examples are nice also. Im using VC++ 7 Windows XP
I am not looking to do anything special just one music track and multiple sfx. I do not know much about sound. Currently what I was thinking was using .ogg for my music and streaming. Should I load some of the tracks current, prev, and next into data so I can use the FSOUND_LOADMEMORY instead of the FSOUND_MPEGACCURATE flag? From what I read, if I use MPEG… then it has to load in the whole file whenever it changes tracks to put it in the stream which would cause a momentary slowdown?
Another question, should I convert my music files to .MOD .S3M .XM etc and use FMUSIC? Would that be a lot better?
Last thing, I was planning on doing SFXs in .wav with FSOUND_PlaySound, anything I should know or consider about that.
