In VB, if I try to create a new system while an existing system is playing a stream, then the stream that is playing starts stuttering and looping over and over again. This looping will continue even if you FMOD_System_Release both systems that you have created. The problem does not occur if you use samples instead of streams.

This seems to have been the case for at least the few FMOD Ex releases, I will investigate exactly when the problem started if it has not always been there. I first noticed the problem using the most recent 4.00.34 release.

Here’s a test case that demonstrates the problem. Create a form with two buttons on it and use the following code:
[code:q41qg836]Option Explicit

Public system1 As Long
Public system2 As Long
Public sound As Long
Public channel As Long

Public Function errcheck(result As FMOD_RESULT) As Boolean
If Not result = FMOD_OK Then
MsgBox "Fmod Error: " & FMOD_ErrorString(result)
errcheck = True
Exit Function
End If
errcheck = False
End Function

Private Sub Form_Load()
errcheck (FMOD_System_Create(system1))
errcheck (FMOD_System_Init(system1, 32, FMOD_INIT_NORMAL, 0))
errcheck (FMOD_System_CreateStream(system1, "c:\winstart.wav", FMOD_DEFAULT, sound))
End Sub

Private Sub Form_Unload(Cancel As Integer)
errcheck (FMOD_System_Release(system1))
End Sub

Private Sub Command1_Click()
errcheck (FMOD_System_PlaySound(system1, FMOD_CHANNEL_FREE, sound, 0, channel))
End Sub

Private Sub Command2_Click()
errcheck (FMOD_System_Create(system2))
errcheck (FMOD_System_Release(system2))
End Sub[/code:q41qg836]Thanks!
