Hi!

Anyone done a “BPM meter” in VisualBasic that can calculate the BPM from a MP3 in realtime (or ofline) with FMod? I need some tips or a code example.

There was a thread about beat detection in the General Discussion forum a while back.

Well, I’ve taken the time this afternoon to write a stand-alone application that can play a song and then it will calculate the bpm.
You can download it here :

Let me know if you think it sucks or is very good… For most songs, it is at most 4 bpm off, which is still a long way to go to 0.1 bpm accurate…
For easy songs it gets quite accurate.

I am not (yet) going to release the source code…
I am first going to try and improve it and then I might release it for freeware/private use only.
And yes, it is done in Visual Basic.
