Hello,

is there any secret to play WMA-Files with fmodEx or “normal” fmod?
My application and the example fmod.exe application can’t play this kind
of files. Always it prompts a messagebox: “not supported file format”

The fmod doku speaks from normal streams i.e mp3 wav wma etc.
My WinAmp and the MediaPlayer has no problems to play this files.

Is there a trick or an missing dll?

Please help me

Greetings
Daniel

Hello,

nobody an idea?

Here’s the code I start my streams:

pMain1->result = pMain1->system->createStream(filename, FMOD_SOFTWARE | FMOD_2D, 0, &pMain1->sound);
ERRCHECK(pMain1->result);
pMain1->result = pMain1->system->playSound(FMOD_CHANNEL_FREE, pMain1->sound, false, &pMain1->channel);
ERRCHECK(pMain1->result);
pMain1->result = pMain1->channel->setCallback(FMOD_CHANNEL_CALLBACKTYPE_END, mycallback, 0);
ERRCHECK(pMain1->result);

Is this wrong for playing WMA-file?

This code plays wav and mp3.
Why does it play WMA-files???

Any suggestions?

thank you, brett.

I installed the wmfdist.exe.
With Fmod3 it runs now.
Tonight I will test it for FmodEx – I think I will run too :))

But one question: Where in the FmodEx doku I could find this information?
I searched this forum for “wma” – not one reference in this direction.
Only the wma+dsp problem I found. But that wmfdist.exe is necessarily
for playing wma at all … It’s sometimes a game :)

Unimportantly! FModEx is pure fun!
I thank you for this fast reply.
