There’s mention in the feature list/docs for FMOD Ex that sync points/markers are newer and better:
[quote:3kqmhj5a]New sample accurate, codec / plug-in based, streaming engine. FMOD Ex takes streaming to the next level, with low memory, thread balancing, cpu load spreading support. Seeking, synchronization and timing against streams has also never been more accurate![/quote:3kqmhj5a]

My question is, is there now a way to start a stream at a specified position when another playing stream reaches a specified position. If so, what degree of accuracy can be achieved? Sample-accurate (fantastic!) or fixed (ok) or at start of next buffer (bugger)?

Is this only possible if all the streams and sync points are set up before starting FMOD.. or is it possible to add a sync on the fly?

I realise this is a big ask. It looks as though sentence/stitch support could go some way towards supporting the above sync scheme, as does FMOD_SetSyncCallback..

Thanks…[/quote]

Thanks for the clarification. I’m well into coding my own solution using decoding streams, manually mixing into a custom stream, so I understand this is not a snip to implement!

Of course if & when this is supported I will abandon my code in favour of FMOD API calls…
