I started using FMOD Ex yesterday after I realized how crap my sound implementation was. I was extremely pleased with the results I was getting and how intuitive and easy this API was to use.
However, I ran into a problem today. I cannot seem to load any sounds that are bigger than 4MB. Is this a bug or must I do something extra on creating such a sound?

UPDATE: I fixed that problem. I cant play midi files though, I always get a file not found error despite the path being correct.

Thanks for the reply. Its an mp3 file. Changing it from Hardware to Software seems to have fixed the problem, though I’m puzzled why the bigger files dont work on Hardware. I get an FMOD_OK result from the CreateSound call.
I cant play any midi files either, i get a filenotfound result on creation, but the path is definitely correct.
UPDATE: Using CreateStream for the mp3 allows me to play it in hardware. I still havent been able to fix the midi.

I found it on some site which lets you download system files. The computer iam running at the moment runs on Windows xp 64, but i am using the win32 version of FMOD.

I just tested it on a computer with Windows 2000 and it works fine. I’ll have to look into why it is not working on this one though.

Ah i thought i had edited my original message but turns out I didnt! Yeah i found that it keeps it in the etc folder. Also, there is one on the drivers section of SysWOW64 but its very small, and I only got it working when I replaced that one with the one in the etc folder.
