Hi, I don’t know if this has been solved before or mentioned…

One of our clients reports that after resuming windows from a hibernated state causes the sound of the game to be very bad (has static gaps and noises in it). The game was running when the machine was put into sleep mode and it uses fmod of course.

Is this a known issue? is there something to be done to solve this? this is reported on various hardware combinations (mostly laptops with built in audio solutions).

Any help would be greaty appreciated!

Hi Brett, thanks so much for the quick response! I have some more information from the audio engineer responsible for the hardware itself, would that shed more light on whats going on – or as per your suggestions we will have to actually handle the hybernation/resume messages ourselves?

This problem should be reproduceable on any platform with Conexant HD-Audio, or AC97 solution built in. HP notebooks should have this in them.

The interesting part, is that I have found sound cards that do NOT exhibit this problem. In particular the Microsoft HDAudio class driver seems to not have this issue, while Conexant audio driver does.

It may be related to our implementation of the WavePCI miniport (High performance low latency, hard to implement), versus the implementation of the WaveCyclic miniport (High latency, but easy to implement) that Microsoft uses.

thanks! I’ll try that (it will take 1 more week until we get the right hardware for this) I really appreciate your effot on trying to repro it :)
