How do i author a custom DSP plugin that is loadable into FMOD designer?

I could not find documentation on this.

(event editor -> add effect -> browse)

How are cross platform issues dealt with? (how does the correct plugin get loaded at runtime?)

hmm, let me clarify to make sure I understand.

Is there a way to use a custom plugin in the Designer that cooresponds into a custom but compiled in plugin in the engine?

The dynamicly loaded plugin feature is not important to me. The extension of Designer to include custom dsp controls is.

And I am talking consoles for deployment.

compiling appropriate versions of the plugin for each platform is no problem.
