In searching the forums for info on the occlusion system I found this thread:

http://52.88.2.202/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3640

That was from March last year but I assume it is still recommended to do occlusion manually if you have geometry raytracing available?

If that is the case I was just wondering about when occulsion traces are done and/or how often. So before a sound is played you obviously do an occlusion check, but what if the sound is particularly long or looping? Does the FMod geometry system do occlusion checks each update or just the first time the sound is played?

Thanks,
Ryan.

I’ve been told that our current level geometry trace system doesn’t return multiple hits. What I mean is that if multiple walls are between the sound source and listener our trace system wouldn’t be able to accumulate occlusion values. 😮

I assume the FMod system accumulates occlusion values across the line trace from source to listener?
