Hi,

When I do:

FSOUND_SetOutput( FSOUND_OUTPUT_NOSOUND );
FSOUND_Init( 44100, 32, 0 );
int mix_rate = FSOUND_GetOutputRate();

‘mix_rate’ equals 44100. I was expecting it to equal zero (0).

This leads me to ask, when output is set to NOSOUND, is FMOD doing anything internally with the mixer that would cause it to use any CPU time?

If it is doing something with it, what is the lowest I could safely set the mix rate to? 40hz seems to be the lowest I can go without causing a divide error.

Thanks in advance,
David

When in nosound mode, with the mix rate set to 8000, I get ~0.07% cpu usage. Definitely nothing to be concerned with!

I asked because I was more curious than anything. :smile:

BTW, setting the volume to zero had no measurable effect on cpu usage.

Thanks again,
David
