Hi,
there is a bug with the lastest libfmodex (4.04.02) which makes the system hang and forces to do a hard reboot. The hang happens on call of FMOD::System::close() or shortly after. The hang happens on the examples included with the library and with various pieces of code I tried.

I tried a debugger on fmodapi40402linux/examples/3d/main.cpp and the system locked at line 250.

Hi,

Haven’t been able to reproduce this on any of our linux boxes.

Does this hang only happen with the default output mode (FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_OSS), or with all of the other ones as well (FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_ALSA and FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_ESD)?

ESD and ALSA are fine. The error seems to come from OSS, which is system default.

Hi chenpo,

we had a couple of reports that describe a similar problem. I tried to reproduce this issue, too. Unfortunately, I couldn’t. It seems to be an issue of newer systems like "ubuntu dapper".

I’m getting the same problem on two different computers running Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake). Specifically, it only happens when you exit fmod after initializing a stream. I can reproduce the error with the example programs provided in the linux package. For example, exiting "playsound" doesn’t freeze, but running "playstream" and then exiting will completely freeze the machine, requiring a cold reboot.

There’s definitely a problem here. Fmod was working fine on both computers using Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy).
