Quick question. When using FMOD with 5.1 mode (and software mode) I understand that 5.1 sources are mapped directly to the 5.1 output (with no speaker remapping). However, when I play a 2-channel source, they are mapped to the L/R channels. No problem so far. I am wondering if it is possible to force a 2-channel source to redirect the low-frequencies (with a low-pass filter) to the lfe channel?

I’ve read through the API and searched the forums, but I haven’t found a definitive answer on this.

Would appreciate feedback! Thanks!
Jason

Hi Jason,
Just using setSpeakerMix with all levels set to 0 except for LFE would do exactly what you want. All voices are summed into lfe anyway.
To go even further setSpeakerLevels gives absolute control. multispeakeroutput gives examples on its usage.

Would this pass just the low frequency to the lfe channel or all frequencies? I would still like the high frequencies to go to the appropriate left and right channels.

You may misunderstand the point of a subwoofer. It has all frequencies going to it, but the actual speaker is only going to play the low frequencies anyway.
You dont articially highpass filter sounds to go to the other speakers just because the sub is playing the low frequencies, that would sound incredibly bad. Some high quality left/right speakers are rated as low as some subwoofers anyway.
Basically dont do anything special, its already doing it for you.
