Hi, I have made a nice music player in VB and I am about to compile it to *.exe and send it to my friend. Now what I want to make sure is… Will everything work fine on her computer… I have used DSP callback to get Scope. I have used FX flanger, echo options too.

I have set buffer size to 100ms. Now all I want to know is, if her soundcard will be different.. will player have any problems or will it auto adjust with her soundcard settings?

Do I need to worry about her soundcard being different?

Thanks.

I’m using following stuff and seems to work fine:

FSOUND_SetBufferSize 400:
Call FSOUND_SetBufferSize(400&)

For DirectSound, use FSOUND_SetHWND and FSOUND_INIT_GLOBALFOCUS flag:
If Not MainHWnd = 0& Then
Call FSOUND_SetHWND(MainHWnd)
End If
ctSSLayer_Init = Not (FSOUND_Init(44001, 256, &H2) = 0&)

And as it’s a visual basic program, use this before any usage of Timer function (or you may encounter random resumeable errors (at least on my computer :)):
Private Sub GrabError()
Dim xLong1 As Long

On Error Resume Next
xLong1 = Timer
On Error GoTo 0
End Sub

One can’t be 100% sure about it without making intensive testing on different system configurations. BTW, maybe she doesn’t even have a soundcard.
