Hi everyone,

I am wondering on how to play encrypted sound files using FMOD 3.75. I have encrypted the files and I am now wondering how to get the decrypted audio data through to FMOD for playback. Where is the best place to do such things?

Thank you very much,

Peter.

Have a look at the "usercreatedsound" example that ships with the FMOD API. Or possibly the "loadfrommemory" example.

Andrew,

Thank you very much for your answers. I have one additional question regarding this:

Many of the sound files I have encrypted are .ogg music files – can I parse that data to FMOD or shall I do some decoding into .wav?

Thank you very much,

Peter.

I think the best way is to use file callbacks.
This would let fmod open the ogg file as normal, but only after it has passed through your read callback, where you can decrypt. See FSOUND_SetFileCallbacks i think it is called. (or similar name)

Thank you, Brett! I’ll have a look at it and hopefully get it to work. Would this be accomplished more easily in FMODX?

Thank you,

Peter.
