I’m using FMODex 4.04.18 at MSVC++7.0.
In my project, the loop of calling System::update() works in a thread that I create. And playing sound or stopping channel is controled through window messages.
But if I play and stop the same sound several times, occur error when calling playsound().
so… For checking, I changed a position of the System::update() in dsppluginviewer(your sample) from WM_TIMER to other thread. It’s the same.
Is it bug that you should fix?

no, fmod is not guaranteed to be thread safe so don’t call fmod commands from different threads. WM_TIMER is considered a different thread.
