Is Designer capable of plugging in personal/proprietary features I write to enhance its capabilities? If not is there a way I can enhance the features of Designer?
Thanks.

Currently there is no way to extend the functionality of FMOD Designer. You can write your own FMOD plugins and Designer will use them. You can also process .fdp files pretty easily (they’re XML) before passing them to Designer to build.

One thing that’s been on our todo list for a while is to add pre- and post-build commands so the user can execute a specified command line (start a script, run a batch file, anything) before and after a build. Would this interest you?

Thanks for the reply. Are the plugins one can write VST or a format compatible with consoles?
Thanks.

It would definitely interest me as I already process the fdp files to get some of the data into a format I need to use, and having to run it as a standalone app is obviously prone to errors with them not being synchronised.

droberts:
It supports FMOD plugins (see examples\plugin_dev directory in the FMOD api) and also VST plugins. Of course you’ll have to recompile your VST plugins if you want them to run on a console though.

crouton:
I’ll bump this feature further up our list.

Are there advantages to either one, VST or FMOD? Is there any reason to choose one over the other?
Thanks.

it is much more advantageous to use fmod plugins/effects, as they are cross platform and have platform specific optimizations (ie written in VMX on xbox 360)
