Hi,
Just having a play with FMOD with a view to using it in a shareware level bit of software I write. Very good system, generally pretty easy to use. I’ve got one problem though, I’m managing to play 16 bit wavs and mp3s ok but I’m getting shash out when I play 24 bit AIFFs (I haven’t got any 24 bit wavs to test right now). Is there something I need to set to play 24 bit files, in the mixer out for example? (I’m using the very latest version of FMOD with Visual C++ 2005 Express on XP Pro SP2).

Thanks,
Pete Gates

I got hold of some 24 bit wavs at last and they play fine. Anyone got any info on this? I got a 24 bit AIFF of 1KHz tone and when playing it just sounds like some really distorted harmonic of the normal tone. Is there something wrong with the byte order (I’m on PC)?

Thanks,
Pete

Thanks Andrew,
I’ve sent a zip of two AIFFs (one mono, one stereo) that was generated on ProTools on a Mac. I was also given some files from a Steinberg Nuendo system (PC) that didn’t work.

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Peter,

Apologies for the lack of 24-bit AIFF decoding, this has been added and will be in the new version.
