Hi ;>

I have the latest stable FMOD Ex library (4.04.28).

I’ve been testing the netstream example (precompiled binary from the fmod package), and it seems it does not always work.
I have some MP3 files on a server, and it looks like netstreams plays some, but it cannot play other.
FMOD Ex works OK if I download the files to the local HDD and play them from there, so it does not seem to be the mp3 format problem.

FMOD error! (20) Couldn’t perform seek operation. This is a limitation of the medium (ie netstreams) or the file format.

(the host MusicMiner is my laptop, LAN/ethernet 100mbit)

As You can see, netstream ‘posts’ FMOD error "(20) Couldn’t perform seek operation. This is a limitation of the medium (ie netstreams) or the file format."

Both of the above mp3 files (0047.mp3 and 0048.mp3) are detected as "MPEG 1 Layer III, 320 kbps, Stereo, 44100 Hz".

Any idea whats wrong? How could this be fixed ?

Something in the MP3 that fails is causing FMOD to try to seek in a way that’s not supported for netstreams. Netstreams aren’t as robust as reading from harddrive because it’s meant to be for streaming, not normal random access. Either fix the MP3s or use shoutcast.
