Should I use FMOD v3 och v4?

I have very simple audio needs, no use of dsp effects etc. I’m using it for a game made in C++.
I’m thinking that the main benefits with using the v4 API is that it’s more object-oriented, but since I won’t be making a middle layer that handles sound, that might not make any difference for me?

Is v4 more advanced and thus requires more tinkering to implement?
How about performance?

fmodex is quite fine, so some versions have some behaviours. Fmodex also has more common stream/tracker/cd/channel api, which is only relevant when using streams and tracker / …
(I’m using fmodex for music playback only)
