A report from our sound guy states: "I have been playing on two different machines now and the sound, when played back through my ‘professional’ sound chain (USB or Firewire interface), burbles or skips when playing. I understand that most people will have onboard sound cards but it does make it difficult to tell what’s happening with my sounds in high fidelity playback."

I don’t have the brand of USB device this is. I’m working on it.

It is unclear to me whether other postings in the forum are related to this or not.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

FMOD can play through the DirectSound (16bit), MMSOUND and ASIO (24/32 bit). I have not much experience with ASIO, but you could probably try to set it up in ASIO mode (SetOutputMode I believe) and see the difference.

If he’s using an ASIO driver, have him check to make sure his latency is not set too low. That could cause the anomalies you’ve mentioned.

either that or just make the DSP buffer size configurable .
