I wanted to make sure that Event::stop calls release on all of the sounds in the event. It does correct?

no it doesnt, otherwise you’d have horrible performance issues with sounds being loaded and freed every time you played a sound.

Use EventGroup::loadEventData and EventGroup::freeEventData to cache and free stuff, and make sure your event group heirarchy is set up for effecient loading.
