Our sound designer wants to create sounds that fall off in volume with distance but do NOT have a direction. So, the sound gets quieter the farther you are from it but spinning around in place the sound doesn’t change. This is like a mixture of a 2D and 3D sound; there is distance fall of but all speakers output at the same volume. Can this be done in Designer or do I have to play with the speaker modes behind the scenes and have him specify a User Property so I know to do it?

use a 2d sound and add a custom volume curve + distance parameter and it will do what you want.

What is the difference between between adding a 3D distance parameter and just adding a parameter of my own? Does FMOD treat the 3D distance parameter differently? Does it get updated automatically based on listener positions (whereas I would have to update the parameter myself)?
