I’m brand new to FMOD, so go easy on me? 😉

In Windows when using professional multichannel output cards such as the AES16 [url:3vja8suy]http://www.lynxstudio.com/aes16.html[/url:3vja8suy] the hardware will enumerate the 16 channels as 8 stereo pairs. There is no default (driver # -1) 7.1 pairing like on some surround sound cards.

So…

Is there a way to use channel groupings to make a new virtual grouping of all 8 stereo outputs into a single output such that the FMOD_SPEAKERMODE_7POINT1 mode could be used to send a 16 channel (8 pair) WAV file to the card and have them all play in a synchronous (per sample level) fashion?

Firing up 8 stereo pairs one after the other won’t due the trick because the first pair starts playing before the last pair gets going.

I would appreciate any insight that could help me out.

Thank you.

If that requires a new directsound object for every stereo pair, definitely not.
