I’ve only just started using FMOD Designer, and have a couple of recommendations for small tweaks to the interface.

  • When you add sounds to events, the dialog that lists the available sounds presents them as a flat list (i.e. throws away the tree structure that is present in the sound pane). This forces you to name sounds with completely unique names, even if you have separated them into folders. Very frustrating. Could the sound selection dialog use a tree widget instead?

  • As far as I can tell, none of the dialogs remember previous choices, i.e. they always present the same initial settings. A good example of this is selecting whether sounds are one shot or looping when adding them to events. The default is looping, and 99% of the time I want them to be one shot. If dialogs like this could remember the last used settings it would be a great improvement to workflow.

  • There don’t seem to be any keyboard shortcuts for common right-click menu items. If these could be added (and even better, made customizable) that would be a huge improvement to workflow.

Thanks for an otherwise great tool and sound library guys!

  1. This is already planned.

  2. Fair cop. If you look in "Preferences -> General" you’ll see a couple of default values that can be set. Sound instance looping is one of them.

  3. I agree. Is there any you’d like in particular?

Thanks for the feedback.
