Hi,

I’m looking for a way to get the address of a sounds samples. Is this possible? I don’t see any way to do it..

You may be thinking this is a bad idea, but here’s my attempt at a justification…

I have a sound; it’s about 3 seconds long. I want to use it as a segment of several sound sentences. It’s also possible that I’m going to play the sound as a normal ‘sample’ sound.

So, I need to create several versions of this sound. I’ll create one ‘sample’ version, and several stream versions of the sound to use in my sentences.

Now, what’d I’d like to do is create the sample sound (and i force it into software, because i know i want to get at the bytes). Since this will load the entire 3 seconds of the sound into memory, what I’d like to do with the streams is create them as ‘memory’ streams. And that’s why I’d like to get to the raw bytes of the loaded sound. Otherwise, all those streams I have created will have to stream from disk. Does this make sense?

thanks,
sam

Use Sound::lock() or Sound::readData().
