I’ve build a VU meter and it’s working great (C# => if anyone’s interested, plz. tell), but I was wondering about some stuff:

I’m reading peakdata using getWaveData. For a good VU meter should I use the largest peakvalue or the average of all peakvalues? (I think the former, but I think I’ve seen VU meters that do the latter, not sure though.)

Does anybody know how to detect clipping using getWaveData?

hello MarcoT,

Can you explain me / share your code on how do you build a VU meter ?

Thank you 😀

Just go through the data, and if >=1 you have clipped 0db (I use 0.98, like a trimmed desk).
