I know this might not be the best forum for this, but does any one know of a way of doing validation for 3D sound spatialization? We are looking at fidelity for different simulators. Some of them are using custome built DSP based solutions from 10 years ago, others are using newer PC based sound engines built around typical game based stuff (OpenAL, FMOD, etc..). Alot places have just used cut appart cheap PC speakers and just kind of placed the speakers anywhere. Basicly every one claims to have "High Fidelity Audio System with 3D Spatialization". Clearly some people have better solutions than others.
Does any one know of how to measure 3D sound accuracy from the position of the listener. Since this is a simulator this will be a pretty well known point.
