Well nigh on 3 years exactly since my last posts I’m using FMOD again as part of my job :)

Just looking at getting doppler effects working right, sound events and the listener weren’t having velocities set until now. It mostly sounds good, apart from the car horn sound, which increases in pitch the faster you drive. I’m guessing that somehow it’s not got the same velocity set on it as the car (if it has any at all), which I’m going to investigate but just thought I’d check here for other possible problems first. A sound and a listener moving in tandem at the same velocity should always sound right yeah?

Aye, pretty sure that one of the two have low or zero velocity.

Looked into it as much as I could yesterday, as far as I could see they both were at the same position and had the same velocity – does them being right on top of each other potentially cause problems? I can try moving them apart, the guy I asked about it here thought they were already at separate locations anyway.

Bit of a footnote to this, still not got it working totally but found that when I swapped the horn to a looping police siren event that it all worked right, no increase in pitch as you increased in speed but the desired doppler effect as it flew past you at high speed.

Unfortunately we’re still on quite an old version of FMOD (4.04.24), though I couldn’t find anything relevant about doppler bugs as I looked back through the release threads. I think we’re moving to 4.06 soon so I’m guessing a lot will change and it may just work after that.
