hi

it seems panning only differs how much of the two channels in a stereo file is played. But i use mainly mono effects for shots etc.

Is there any way to pan a mono effect? I understand this will take up two channels.

Thanks
Erik

Thats not true, FSOUND_SetPan works fine on mono voices, and no- it does not take 2 voices.

Just make sure the sound is loaded as 2d and not 3d.

the strange thing is that if i use the exact same code but change the sound in soundforge to stereo the panning works, otherwise not.

how i play it:
FSOUND_Sample_SetDefaults(rrr.unitAttack[1][1],44100,255.0f,255,-1);
FSOUND_PlaySound(FSOUND_FREE,rrr.unitAttack[1][1]);

how i load it:

rrr.unitAttack[1][1] = FSOUND_Sample_Load(FSOUND_FREE, "snd/attack/musket_light.ogg",0,0,0);

how i setup FMOD:

FSOUND_Init (44100, 128, 0);

I dont think there is enything else. I have a FSOUND_Update(); in my mainloop but that shouldnt remove panning for mono files should it?

Plz help…
Erik

Stereo sounds default to 2d, mono sounds default to 3d.
You have to make it 2d as i’ve already said.

ok i used FSOUND_Sample_SetMode and changed it to 2d and that worked. But it wasnt really obvious was it? One would think default is 2d.

Thanks

Have a look at the documentation, it says it there.
