When I call release() on an Event3DReverb to get rid of it, if it is currently active (i.e. the listener is within range), the effect not only stays active, but is now "stuck" on permanently, no matter how far away the listener moves. I am running 4.07.10 on Xbox 360.
Please let me know if you need any help to reproduce this.
