I am a game development student, and I’m currently trying to develop an interactive music engine in which objects within the game can be manipulated by the in-game soundtrack. I’ve been looking into FMod to assist in this, but I’m wondering if it’s even possible with FMod, or if anyone has any ideas where I can look for information about this.

If you’ve got any ideas please help. Thank you.

Probably things where enemies can’t be hit unless a certain beat is played, or player can only execute certain moves unless certain beats are played. Or the environment reacts to different beats. Things like that.

You could use "programmer sounds" for callbacks to the game when certain sound definitions play.

If you’re wanting it to react to the music data itself (e.g. from playing back an MP3), then you could try searching for "VU meter" on here. There are various posts about using getWaveData and then doing processing on the actual data. How you then process it is another issue of course!
