I’m trying to figure out how to capture audio from a position in the game world, and output it as a new sound.

Is this possible with FMOD?

No?

Darn.

I’m thinking you could set up another system, and maybe pump it into a dsp to capture, which then could be used as a user sound but I’ve not tried this, just guessing what I’d try first. Obivously this would duplicate up a lot of your calls.

That’s something we might possibly need as well, for example, you are in a command center and someone videos in to show a live feed of what’s going on else where on the battlefield, and you would have to simultaneously hear what they hear as well as what’s going on around you.

It seems like FMOD already has support for split screen, perhaps it could be slightly modified to support this type of operation without the penalties such as mono and no doppler.

What about multiple listeners? Shouldn’t this fix the problem? That is use one for the main camera and one for the camera capturing what is happening at distance.

I’d totally forgotten about multiple listeners :)

Still, it doesn’t do the downsampling to a single voice but maybe that wasn’t the key thing you wanted to accomplish.

presumably you’d be putting on a filter on sounds coming from a far, ie static etc, so it doesn’t solve the problem entirely, plus from the documentation it does say that everything will turn mono, etc.
