Hi all, total newb question here. I am transferring from Isact to Fmod at the moment, and designing ambiences for levels. With Isact you were able to specify a silence track within an event to essentially make the event intermittent (i.e: bird chirps firing with a 30-45 second pause between)

What I am wondering is if there is a simple way to accomplish this with Fmod?

Thanks!

You can use the "add don’t play entry" for your bird chirps sound definition which essentially works like a silence entry in the list of waveforms.
On PC, right-click on the sound definition.

Then use the Play Percentage to control how often you want the actual sounds to play vs. silence.

Hope this helps,

I recommend setting the minimum and maximum spawn times of your sound definition to accomplish this. You shouldn’t need to add a "don’t play" entry. For the example you give, just set minimum spawn time to 30000 and maximum to 45000. Note that the sound instance in your event needs to be set to "Oneshot" for spawn times to take effect.

If you need to control the spawn frequency with a parameter, you can add a spawn intensity envelope to the event. You can also tweak the spawn frequencies for an entire event by adjusting the spawn intensity property of the event.
