Setup:
Windows Vista 32bits Professional
VS 2005
Video, Audio and misc Drivers Updated today

What is happening is that when I call the EventSystem::Init() method
it returns FMOD_ERR_COM, (should be driver related , or codec related)
I updated Drivers, searched for trustables codecs, and had no luck, heard of Bioshock having similar problems on Vista32. Tried the fix : run application in Windows XP compatibility Mode. With it, it runs fine. so I figured it was related to the OS. ? !

What do you think about this?

You should get FMOD 4.08.01. It’s the latest version, including everything from the 4.07 branch and a lot of fixes made after 4.07.19.

The com error is definitely fixed.

Also we found that vista has an unreliable sleep function which would cause stuttering. We changed that to timesetevent and there is no more stuttering.

This is all in 4.08 onwards.
