Dear all,

First I would like to congratulate the authors of fmod for their impressive work: I’ve never experienced a so easy to use sound API… great.

Let me submit my problem. I’m running win2k and I’ve a full DirectX 8.0 support and I try to resize the FSOUND buffer in a streaming application.

I understand that the default value is 200 ms and that lower ones could affect the audio quality.

Nevertheless I would like to increase it to an arbitrary value. I understand FSOUND_SetBufferSize has to be called before FSOUND_Init, but even in this case, FSOUND_Sample_GetLength returns alway the same value… (corresponding to 200 ms).

A I wrong somewhere ?

Please help!

Hello!

The bufferlength does not influence the result of FSOUND_Sample_GetLength. The bufferlength only influence the quality of the sound, the buffer of the dsp-callbacks and the latency of the functioncalls. A larger buffer makes fmod react slower while a smaller buffer makes fmod react faster.
