I created simple event for playng "BGM" on main menu.

It’s just for "start / stop" when certain menu selected.

I entered ‘500’(ms) in Event Property "Fadeout time" and

coded in my application.cpp file like this:

[ event->start(); ] where app. started

[ event->stop(); ] where I want F.O.

the event started well, but didn’t stop.

So, I tried [ event->stop(TRUE); ] and it stopped without F.O.

But [ event->stop(); ] doesn’t work so far.

Is there anybody like me?

In addition, I wonder the Parameter property "seek speed" works

out-of-designer well. I tried to ‘fake’ Fade in/out using that but couldn’t

make it using [ eventParameterPseudoVolume->setValue(0); ]

Is there anybody like me, too?

Rescue me please~

thanks.

Sohn.

Are you calling EventSystem::update regularly?

Yes, we are using "seek speed" property set in the designer for our events and it works well.
You tried to manage a volume effect on your event (with vol=-60dB for value=0) and it does nothing ?
What is the effect ?

Cheers.

Brett.

Thanks for intruducing me that.

One thing changed after calling update(); :

event->stop(); works well but it make the event stop immediately, without ‘fadeout’.

Eventually, I think it wasn’t never effective because I made the event stop

by calling stop(); instead of calling stop(TRUE);

but I can’t hear "Fade Out" yet.

It’s very simple app. with 1 dialog window and 4tab(property) controls within.

so, If it’s possible, I want to show you the cod….e.

anyway, thanks A LOT!

Thank you for "Cheers" me. 😆

As I mentioned above, the parameter is for "Fadeout Effect".

the event has just one layer(does it matter? anyway…) and

volume effect on it with "/"shape (linear increment).

The parameter has [0…100] values with seek speed "30 / sec".

Maybe you could picture them without difficulty.

What a simple-and-strange problem, isn’t it?

Hi,

As Brett as indicated, you should check your calls to EventSystem::update.

NB: if the calls to update are regularly made, the fade-in/out should also work …

Sorry for this poor help.

Regards.

Sorry for the necroing, but I’m having the exact same issue as Sohn – I want the bgmusic to fade in. But setting the Fadein property to anything but zero causes the sound to never play at all.

Leaving the Fadein property at 0: everything works a charm…

ie: everything else seems to work well sound wise – I just cant get a sound with Fadein to play.

Any ideas?

(I am running update every frame, I’ve tried forcing software)

Still haven’t figured this one out. The bgmusic of my main menu fades in properly now, but refuses to "stop()" (though the return is FMOD_OK) until the volume is 100%.

Some other events refuse to play with fadein, even though I actually copied the mainmenu-event and simply replaced the sound. Fadeins and outs works as expected when tested in the Event editor-tab.

… the behaviour seems entirely erratic – I just can’t see how the events differ from eachother.

Please – anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

(Oh yeah: I’m using FMOD Designer 4.15.01, and FMOD Ex 4.15.01)

… still no fadeins for me. Rebuilt the entire project, set up a streaming wavebank for our music (WAV-sources) and trying having them in 2D, 3D and varying fadein times. If fadein != 0, it just doesn’t play. :(

It all works when I preview the event in Designer, needless to say.

make a simple test and call update once per 10ms or something. It will work. The issue has to be in the functions you are calling or not calling or not calling properly – as you said the preview application works.
