Hello…

I am trying to mix n-channel audio (via XM or MP3 or whatever) to pure 1-channel (mono) Windows output such that everything is mixed into 1 channel and that 1 channel is sent out to however many speakers (or headphones) I have. Everything I have tried keeps the stereo separation but I want every sound to come out of 1 speaker (or the exact same mono stream to come out of both speakers).

I have called setSpeakerMode() (yes, before init() is called) :), CreateSound(…, FMOD_SOFTWARE, …) and setSpeakerLevels() and it still separates the channels.

By comparison, WinAmp has a Force Mono setting, and this sort of does what I want, but I think their software mixer is buggy or whatever because it causes a lot of sound artifacting on certain songs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

A simple DSP that takes the X inputs, does your mix dependant on which inputs you have, then sends that mix to each of the outputs should do what you want.
