I’m trying to wrap my head around the idea on how to scrub audio using fmod. You know, grab the sound and be able to audition it with your mouse.
I’m think of taking the mouse position and then depending on where it is on the screen play the audio backwards, or forwards. The farther away from the center, the faster the audio plays. What would be the correct procedure to do this, as far as fmod is concerned?

iirc you can use setpitch with software samples, with a negative pitch to go backwards.

does this method work with the sample rate too? I would like to emulate the sound of a tape machine, so I would want the pitch to change as well.

I think he meant setFrequency, with FMOD_SOFTWARE you can play sounds backwards (just remember to position the play position at the end first!)
