I would like to know if anybody has an idea how the following task could be accomplished:

I have the wav files of a grown man’s voice which I would like to change into the voice of a child most realistically.

I have tried simple pitch shifting (also with formant keeping), but I doubt that should be my weapon of choice. At least my trials sounded bad.

Any idea or hint is appreciated!
Thank you very much.

try raising the sample rate of the audio stream.

Thank you for your comment!
Well, that was in fact better than all my previous trials, but it’s still not very authentic. Do you have any other ideas?

Just when I thought it was just impossible, I heard "Hollywood" from Madonna, and I noticed that this is just what I needed at about 3:30.
They change her voice to a children voice and then to a man’s voice, and it sounds really natural.
I guess they use a pitch shifter with formant option, but I’ve never experienced one that is so good…
Must have slept too long on this topic.

you probably need to look at vocoders, they modulate the signal in the frequency domain with another sound.

Thank you. I did that for 5 minutes only…
Will spend more time with it!

You can change the pitch and formant independently with Melodyne…That’s how they did it for Madonna.
